I produced this content as in house full time Creative Producer at Immortals.
“Learning from every defeat is what leads you to be a champion. For MIBR, winning is the best feeling and in Champions Rising, brought to you by Game Fuel, we look at what we need to do to get there.”
I directed and produced this video while working under Immortals, and I conceived many of the marketing elements.
The Immortals Icon, the first collaboration between global esports organization Immortals and heritage sneaker and lifestyle brand K-Swiss. First announced in April 2018, the partnership between Immortals and K-Swiss is the first official pairing between a footwear brand and esports organization. The limited-edition Immortals Icon retails for $110 USD and is available for purchase at kswiss.com/immortals.
“Esports is exploding, and we’re excited to be at the forefront,” said Barney Waters, K-Swiss’ brand president. “Immortals is a great organization to be partnered with as we explore together the intersection of sneakers and esports. As shown in the Immortals Icon, this creative zone is one we continue to focus energy on.”
The Immortals Icon represents the very best of esports and gaming and builds on the history of Immortals competitive success. The sneaker design reflects deep collaboration between Immortals professional players and K-Swiss’s world-leading designers. With a sleek, aerodynamic silhouette, the Immortals Icon is designed for superior fit and comfort. It features an all-black engineered knit with premium leather and a heel pillow for ultimate comfort. The sneaker sports Immortals branding and comes with two pairs of shoelaces in Immortals colors of black and teal that fans instantly recognized across the world.
“We embrace our players’ unique styles and understand that personal expression and performance are uniquely tied together,” said Noah Whinston, Immortals CEO. “K-Swiss has been a true partner as we workshopped, collaborated and ideated on the Immortals Icon sneaker. This sneaker is only the beginning as our game-changing performance shoe collaboration is yet to come.”
Set to launch in mid-2019 is “The Grandmaster,” the world’s first competitive gaming sneaker developed hand in hand by K-Swiss designers and Immortals players to reflect the needs of the esports professional.

FILM: I worked with Truth Be Told in creating a documentary film for San Francisco’s Aquarium of the Bay about ocean health. The challenge was to create a story that helped explain how a few innovative leaders in the seafood industry are helping to implement more sustainable approaches to fishing the ocean.
SOLUTION: Truth Be Told spent a day aboard a crabbing vessel in Trinidad, CA to understand how SeaDoc is revolutionizing the fishing industry by developing a self sustaining program enabling fishermen to retrieve lost fishing gear after their season is over. I came on board a day in Water Bar to understand how the chef and purchasing manager are driving behavior change both from within the industry and by educating their patrons. We also told the story of a San Francisco Bar Pilot who has been surfing the coast of CA for more than 20 years removing stray fishing debris to reduce marine mammal entanglements.
RESULT: The resulting film is being shown as an educational tool at the Aquarium of the Bay and Sea Lion Center to create education and awareness for a more sustainable ocean. It is also being shown in theaters to create a conversation and dialogue about ocean health and sustainable consumption.
COLLABORATORS:
- Craig Goucher (crabber) and Jennifer Rennzulo (Sustainable programs) of Sea Doc’s Derelict Fishing Gear retrieval program
- Eric Hyman (sustainable purchasing) & Parke Ulrich (head chef) of Water Bar San Francisco
- Dustin Slack (surfer) of SF Bar Pilots
- Kate Harle, Maggie Ostdahl and Robyn Grahn of the Aquarium of the Bay
- Silvia Mahan (producer and asst. editor) & Matt Szymanowski (2nd cinematographer at Water Bar) of Truth Be Told Creative
